Today, October 19, is World Breast Cancer Awareness Day 🎗️ A date recognized by the WHO since 1988, traditionally focused almost entirely on women.
But there’s something few men know: breast cancer can also affect men. It’s rare — accounting for less than 1% of breast cancer cases — but it does happen, and it is often diagnosed later because few people suspect it in men.
The warning signs are similar: a lump or thickening near the nipple, changes in the skin, or a nipple that turns inward. If you notice something like this, don’t ignore it because you think, “That doesn’t happen to men.”
Today is a good day to remind the women in your life to get their routine screenings… and to pay attention to your own body, too.
