Explore research on dairy consumption and prostate cancer risk, and learn why an association does not mean that dairy products cause prostate cancer.
Article content

Scientists have studied the possible link between dairy consumption and prostate cancer risk for years, but the answer requires some context.
A systematic review and meta-analysis of 33 cohort studies found a small association between higher consumption of certain dairy products and a higher risk of prostate cancer.
For example, in the dose-response analysis, every additional 200 g of total milk consumed per day was associated with an approximately 2% relative increase in risk. However, this is important: an association does not mean that dairy products cause prostate cancer. The researchers also noted limitations, including differences in PSA screening practices among the studies.
🥗 A balanced diet, regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, and talking to your doctor about your individual risk factors remain important parts of taking care of your overall health.
