Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by the prostate, and its levels can increase for several reasons. In addition to cancer, factors such as benign prostate enlargement, inflammation (prostatitis), urinary tract infections, and even certain recent medical procedures can affect PSA levels.
