Why is it important to know your PSA level?

PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) is a key marker for early detection of potential prostate abnormalities, including cancer. PSA levels in the blood are measured in units called nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL). The likelihood of having prostate cancer increases as PSA levels rise, but there is no specific cutoff value that can definitively determine whether a man does or does not have prostate cancer.

  • About 15% of men with a PSA level under 4 will have prostate cancer if a biopsy is performed.

  • Men with a PSA level between 4 and 10 (often called the "borderline range") have a 1 in 4 chance of having prostate cancer.

  • If PSA is higher than 10, the probability of having prostate cancer is greater than 50%.

If your PSA level is elevated, you may need additional tests to detect prostate cancer. Focalyx® Fusion enables highly precise evaluation of prostate lesions. Get tested and know your health!
